“I enjoy working with clients who are making a difference in our world. Clients who are helping people, educating people, and changing behaviors in schools and communities are the foundation on which Tallgrass has thrived. This is the foundation on which Tallgrass Studios was formed.”
Just as the grasses of the prairie are a blend of interconnected varieties designed to work together to thrive, Carey has created a blend of expertise in the directors of Tallgrass Studios where each maintains an individual, yet interconnected role essential to allowing the clients to flourish.
From her first interaction with new clients at Tallgrass Studios, Carey develops the client relationship to gain a deep understanding of the organization’s essence and intentions. Envisioning the potential that can be achieved for the client through fresh branding, design direction, marketing materials and promotions, Carey leads the creativity process at Tallgrass Studios to achieve the realization of each clients’ mission. Social awareness drives the work for many of Tallgrass’ clients, and because of Carey’s interest in positive social change, hospice work and nonprofits have become a specialty area for Tallgrass.
Graber’s main focus at Tallgrass Studios is developing and building strong relationships with clients, fulfilling and overseeing marketing materials that create brand consistency, and developing fresh, new ideas and concepts for special projects and promotions. Carey provides client consultations, account services, identity planning, creative concept development, design direction, lectures, focus groups and brainstorming sessions to assist in the creation of branding/identity to move her clients’ business into the achievement of their desired reality.
A graduate of the University of Kansas with a BFA in Visual Communications, Carey initiated Tallgrass Studios in 2000 while working as an Adjunct Professor/Director of The Arts Group (a senior level internship program at KU). Prior to Tallgrass, Carey had worked as an intern with Pizza Hut Inc., a designer for Bob Neace Graphic Design, Assistant Art Director for Woods Creative Group, and Art Director, Creative Director and Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Art and Sign, Inc.
Recognized by industry organizations, Carey’s work has received international, national and regional awards from the Wichita Advertising Federation, Topeka Advertising Federation, AIGA Kansas City, and the Kansas City Art Directors Club.
